SilentChecker watches the WiFi network you are connected to and switches your ringer for you. Tag a network as Work and the phone drops to vibrate the moment you connect. Leave, and your ring volume comes straight back.
What it does
- Tag any network as Work or Home with a single tap
- Automatic ringer switching the moment you connect or disconnect
- Calls stay visible — vibrate means tactile alerts plus the usual incoming-call popup, so nothing gets missed
- Restores your previous volume when you leave, so you never get stuck on silent
- Saved Networks screen to review, retag, or delete any network you have tagged
- Survives a reboot — the monitor restarts itself if you have auto-ringer enabled
Why it exists
The phone already knows you have arrived at work: it joined the WiFi. Silencing it by hand is a small task you have to remember twice a day, and the cost of forgetting is a ringtone in a meeting or a missed call all afternoon. SilentChecker removes the remembering.
Privacy
SilentChecker reads the name of the WiFi network you are currently connected to, and nothing else. No GPS, no coordinates, no location history. Android requires the location permission to return a network name at all, which is why the app asks for it — it is never used for anything else. The app requests no internet permission, so nothing it reads can leave your phone.
Getting started
- Install the app and grant the permissions it asks for on first run.
- Connect to your work WiFi and tap Work on the network shown.
- Turn on auto-mode.
Requires Android 13 or later. Once it is running there is nothing else to do.
